S2 Football, the story so far.

2 weeks ago, The Albyn S2 football team began their season with a tough game versus Westhill Academy. They were wanting a win to kick off a good start to the season. The game had kicked off and Albyn were on the front foot from the get go. With some nice passes on the wings to William Lindsey and Nathan Grieve. Albyn were the team to find the first goal about a quarter of the way through the first half with a good pass through to Nathan who ran round the keeper to put Albyn 1-0 up. Westhill unfortunately got a goal back with a good finish round goalkeeper Ethan twist. But Albyn quickly replied back with a good corner into the back post for William Lindsey to tap in. Second half was tough as Albyn were holding onto a slight lead. The full time whistle blew and Albyn had won a very hard fought victory 3-2 with Albyn’s season kicking off with a win.

Albyn’s second game of the season was against Dyce Academy who were another tough team to face. The match had started and Albyn were again on the front foot with chances to score the opener. Dyce also created a few chances of their own which led to good saves from the keeper. But the opener came from Aaron Jones with a lovely finish into the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty spot. Dyce surprisingly got an equaliser with an unfortunate chip over the goalkeeper. But that goal didn’t stop Albyn from creating chances with Albyn scoring many goals in the second half which really boosted Albyn’s confidence. The full time whistle blew and Albyn had confidentiality won with an emphatic 8-3 win which left Albyn players with smiles on their faces after the game. Albyn had now won 2 games out of 2 but there are still a lot more games this season.

The Albyn S2 team had won both of their first two games but had to fight for their lives against two very strong teams who the Albyn S2 team had never played. The Albyn squad are hoping that these first two games will give them confidence for the rest of the season.
